Glitter Nails

I went out Monday night and last minute I wanted my nails to look a bit "halloweeny". So I chose a Halloween colour, green. Realised I had glitter that colour and did a glittery French style. The pictures really bad and I did do it in a rush but it looked really cool. After I did one of my nails in full I thought I should have done all of them like that.

All I did was paint my nails and dip it into the glitter, while the polish was still wet. For the French style I painted a layer of clear nail polish first then waited for it to dry, painted the tip, where I wanted to glitter to be and put it into the glitter. It was so fast to do and looked really nice.

Hexagon prints and patterns

During the spring summer 13 shows I did see a lot of hexagon shaped prints and patterns. Unfortunately there was one designers dresses that I couldn't find, I think that is what I would have spoken about the most but I still have these ones.

The first three outfits are slightly different to the others, they aren't a traditional hexagon shape, they look a bit stretched down. The first two outfits create a pattern to make the shape in the negative space within the garment, where as the third outfit has an application of the shapes. They are in a very similar colour, this add texture to the outfit and subtle detail.

The fourth outfit has a pattern of the shape in sections across the garment, some are clear and some are coloured. I think this works well with the nude tone underneath.

The fifth outfit has the pattern all across the material and I think it also has clear sequins, so you can see the bright colour and it gives that sparkle. The sixth outfit looks like they have constructed hexagon shapes from a variety of material to make them into one large piece of fabric, then constructed a dress out of it.

All the outfits are from ready-to-wear spring summer 13 collections

Cheap make-up

As a very broke student I love super cheap make-up! I actually really like the cheap make-up I use. Commonly with cheap make-up products they don't last long, they always have the little number in the mark that looks like a recycling logo. Maybe with more expensive make-up they last longer so you need to buy less, I think the costs all even up anyway. I used to really love "expensive" make-up, my favourite brand is Estee Lauder, I used to be in love with every beauty product Dior sold, however I prefer cheaper brands that sell at drug stores. I like simple things, that just do the job!

Collection 2000 is one of my favourite brands! Their stuff is simple and just does the job. I just looked at how long the products last, the pressed powder is for 24 months, that is not that bad. I think so far I have bought one every year, just because when you get to the end and you see the middle really wearing away, I dropped it and it broke, however I think it would be really good as loose powder, I should buy a container and crush it even more and use it as loose powder - I'm such a superscrimper! May as well make the most of something!

The mascara is only for 6 months but if you use it daily you'll most likely need a new one around that time. The eye liner is also 6 months. I recently got the eyeliner and it really stays on your face. I went out one night, got home drunk so I just knocked out in bed, forgetting to take my make up off, it was still there the next morning!
Another little disgusting thing ill tell you about me; that morning I decided not to take my make-up off before my shower because I wouldn't get it all, then ill get out the shower looking like a panda and need to clean my face again! So I showered with my make-up form the night before on, also I hate getting water in my face so my face didn't actually get wet while in the shower. I got into my room and thought I would look like a panda, it was still there! It looked fine, I have no idea what is in that eyeliner but it really does stay!

Natural Collection is really good. I don't think it would stay well on my face if it wasn't for a good base underneath. I love the colour of this.

My most recent purchase of cheap make-up is the MUA blusher. I got it this week and I've only used it twice but its so nice. I loved the peachy colour.

All the products I got from British drug stores, Superdrugs or Boots.

The Collection 2000 mascara is about £1.99. In London they've recently put the prices up so its over £2. I wasn't happy about that, lucky my university is out of London so its cheaper buying it at the shops here. The collection 2000 pressed powder I cant remember how much it was but cant be over £3. I think the eyeliner was about £2, not so sure on that.

I cant remember the price of the natural collecion blusher. The MUA blusher cost me £1!

I think the majority of MUA's products were about £1, all their single eye shadows are, eye pencils, blushers and bronzers! This is the first of their products I've bought so I don't know if the other products are any good.

I also bought a brown eyebrow pencil with a brush on the other side from MUA, also was £1. I have still yet to try it, I hope it is good!

Leather Looks

I think we all can appreciate a good pair of leather pants!

Marissa Webb Ready-to-wear SS13
I keep seeing leather everywhere! I really like the look of leather in clothing for details. Especially in tailored clothes, jackets and blazers.

Trussardi Ready-to-wear
In this Trussardi blazer they have the lapel and collar in blue leather. Generally you just see a contrasting collar but I like that they extended that to the whole front section.

I do really like the look of leather with a pant suit. The picture below has the model wearing what looks like a leather top. Its very different to the plaid fabric.

Derek Lam

Gianfranco Ferre
Another tailored look. The jacket has a contrasting collar and arms.

Leather dress styled with a blazer. There is always that mix of something tough, which you can always get with leather.
Barbara Bui
Gianfranco Ferre
I love the angular shapes in this skirt. I mostly like how this thick leather belt is styled. They've given in a tight knot, it flows down really well and goes with the outfit. I think this has to be one of my favourite outfits from the Spring Summer 13 collections.

Mugler
I'm not sure if this Mugler skirt is made from leather, slightly looks like it. Even if its not I'm sure this style of skirt can be pulled off by using leather. This skirts really interesting. The curves slightly remind me of an armadillo.

The KTZ outfit is really different compared to the other. I love the top of this outfit, the cut outs in the material to make the detailing is something I love but also the skirt, the corset stings pattern on the skirt is something I haven't seen before.

KTZ
Nicole Miller

I love the mix of leather with sheer or light weigh material. I think its such a good mix. The structure with the leather and flow with the sheer!

The Bebe dress has a leather extended dropped hem. Something I've seen a lot of during the Spring Summer collections.

Bebe

Jason Wu
Finally I have this dress by Jason Wu. I love the leather collar and then the sheer. The leather does continue down to the dress, on the collar stand, shoulder and some of the detail. I love the consistency throughout this look.

Leather and sheer really is a great mix!

Nails!!!!

I was going through old pictures and saw I had loads of my nails. I've chosen a few pictures. Firstly of course its a French tip. Personally I'm not a fan of fake nails, the acrylic ones, or even acrylic nail polish. I think they would be too harsh on my nails. Plus painting your nails is so much fun and a great way to pass time!

I would rarely do a standard French tip, I would always use a shimmery white polish or black. I was a frequent black tip nail polish person!

I love a mix of French tip style and different colours. I think this look would be a bit tacky on me now, but when I was a teenager I loved it! Lots of different colours! No more than 3 though, I think that is a bit too much!

I loved doing diagonal contrast colours! Black and white used to be my favourite but I would do this one frequently. I haven't got the time or patience to do this any more but I thought it went great on a night out to match my clothes!

I did different tones of the same colour too! I think this style looks best with lighter colours!

I'm next picture is of a marble effect. I found this nail tutorial on YouTube and had to try this! I had these nails during London Fashion Weekend. I did use three colours, blue, a shimmery white and purple. Unfortunately you cant really see the purple from the picture but there was hints of it. This was really messy to do but it looked great! There is loads of little tricks you can do to prevent your fingers from getting polish all over them. This took me a while to do but was also really fun!

Polka dots are my favourite style do to currently. I find it so simple to do! I always do a clear coat to start with, I should try some variations in base colour but I do just love the polka dots. If I had longer nails and you can see the white tip obviously then I would put a coloured coat but I try to keep my nails quite short, especially because I'm sewing a lot since I've started uni again!

The picture above does have a packet of Jaffa Cakes in it. I took the picture because the packed opened in the worst, inefficient way ever! These are currently the nails I'm typing with!

Blazers/jackets

At University this semester one of my modules is based on Blazers and Jackets. I'm going though pictures I've saved from all the SS13 fashion weeks and keep seeing this one style of blazer. It is a simple shape but the collars a bit different, I cant remember the technical name for it. The collar and lapel are all in one and it just borders the sides and neck. Its a really simple blazer but looks really nice.

The first picture is of the classic/simple style this type of blazer is in.

Mulberry Ready-to-wear SS13

Rebecca Taylor Ready-to-wear SS13
The Rebecca Taylor blazer has the one collar/lapel, it also has this zip detail under the lapel on the bottom half of the blazer.
Roberto Cavalli Ready-to-wear SS13
Christian Siriano Ready-to-wear SS13
The Cristain Siriano blazer has a slightly larger width in their lapels compared to the conventional size.

Just Cavalli Ready-to-wear SS13
I find the Just Cavalli lapels a bit different compared to the rest, it seems as if the collar and lapel are all one however their is this notch detail on it like conventional blazer, where the collar and lapel meet.

Images are from Vogue

I wanted to do a quick search online for high street shops (in the UK) that have similar styes to these blazers.
I looked into Miss Guided and Miss Selfridge (it really was a quick search)

A lot of high street fashion shops name it as "shawl" blazer. Collar resembles a shawl, I don't really think so, but I guess in the high street that is the closest it is too.

I think this style of blazer would be great in the spring, unfortunately it has got a bit cold here for me to wear one now.

Dennis Basso Dresses

I love the dresses in this collection. I may say love a lot to things but I love the mix with fur shrugs and what look like vests. The shape of the outfits are really feminine and figure hugging! I want one!

Kate Sheridan Necklace

When I was at London Fashion weekend, looking at all the stalls. I came across this one stall with loads of accessories. They had some really nice funky belt and purses then I came to see these necklaces. Instantly I recognised how they were made because I use the same process when making my paper beads.

These necklaces are really chunky, made out of leather and look really great! They are a bit pricey, If I had the money I would buy all of them! The designer is Kate Sheridan and I have the link of her website under the picture.

I love the variations in style and size. The picture of the necklaces are a bit different to the ones I saw at London Fashion Weekend. They had the same process and material but some were coated, I'm not sure what with but they had a metallic tint to them.

I found these images on google and edit them together.
