Manish Arora

The Manish Arora Spring Summer 13 collection got the perfect modern twist on traditional Indian clothing. The silhouettes still remained fairly traditional but the colours and some of the prints were really modern. The embellishments were a really good touch to some of the outfits.

I was instantly attracted to the accessories. They were very gold bases like traditional Indian jewellery that is always gold. The accessories had a lot more colour to them, which made them modern and they really worked with the collection.

I really loved the headpieces, I don't think I've ever seen anything like this. Some were far more unusual than others but they worked really well with the clothes.

Overall this collection had a great look to each outfit and everything worked together. I loved the shoes and also that all the models have the same shoes on!

Trussardi

Trussardi ready-to-wear SS13
There was so much in this collection that I liked and some details that really stood out to me. My favourite outfits are the three pant suits above. I love the jacket and blazers, mostly I like the lapels! I love the contrasting lapel colour on the first outfit, and the extending points. The second outfit has the middle section in a different material, blue leather. Usually with blazers the contrast in colour or material generally applies to just to the lapel. I don't think I've ever seen the front section including the collar and lapel in a different material, like the second outfit. I wonder if the back of the second outfit also matches the front. The collar in the third outfit is really interesting, It looks like an extended collar but also cut into.

I love the small detail to blazers or jackets that make the outfit come together. The double breasted buttons on the blazers and the matching leather belt to the jacket.

Bottega Veneta SS13

Bottega Veneta Ready-to-wear SS13
The Ready-to-wear collection from Bottega Veneta this year varied from style and shape, from feminine dresses to tough looking embellished vests. I love embellishments so I was instantly attracted to some outfits in this collection, however the detail is what made me love some pieces.

Bottega Veneta Ready-to-wear SS13
The collection started with very feminine dresses that look very comfortable to wear. They have simple shapes yet each of them have a unique detail. The first dress has gathers near the top of the dress and at a dropped waist line there is a band of flowers, which are the same print as the dress. The second dress has embellished outlines, the third dress also has an embellished dropped waist line.

Bottega Veneta Ready-to-wear SS13
Both these outfits have embellished and embroidery on the shirts. They're stitched embroidery with flowers and over the pattern they are embellished with, what looks like semi-circled shaped beads. There is also stitch detail on the collar. I usually don't go though the close ups when looking at fashion show pictures but I'm really glad I did in this collection, I saw so much more detail!

Bottega Veneta Ready-to-wear SS13
I love the embellished vests. The detail is really interesting. I don't know what type of material they've used to embellish but the detail up close is amazing. I edited this picture by enlarging the side view of the second outfit and then I copied that picture and enlarged it even more so you can see more of the detail.

Bottega Veneta Ready-to-wear SS13
I love the detail on the neck line of these dresses. I don't know how they're constructed but I think there may be something inside them, then it's stitched around the seal them in place. I would love to know how to make this detail. It gives a subtle texture to the outfit.

Bottega Veneta Ready-to-wear SS13
I love the later outfits in the collection. The material looks as if its stitched all over. I'm not sure if its a print or  if it actually stitched all over. The enlarged section is form the first outfit in this picture. The material has cut out sections to create the pattern and then it is stitched around the shape, like a border. This is probably to stop the material from fraying but it highlights the cut out detail in the dress. The second outfit in this picture has embellishments to create the harlequin pattern.

Overall I really liked this collection, I mostly liked the different types of embellishment and the small detail to the outfits.

Burberry Prorsum

Burberry Prorsum's Ready-to-wear Spring summer 13 collection was amazing, they had loads of different pieces of clothing, my favourite pieces had to be the jackets and capes.

The collection had different variations of the same shape, in different materials or a a few differences in shape. The first Jacket above has oversized arms. The rest are fitted and some have a contrasting belt. I like the variety of texture in the collection.

I really love the capes. The second picture is more of an oversized jacket that has a shape of a cape from the front. You cant tell how oversized this jacket really is by the picture but in the show you see it at different angles and you can notice how big it actually is. The third picture is of a cape with contrasting binding, I also like the buckle fasten. I think the other capes are fastened using hooks and eyes.

Cropped capes and Jackets. Also in different types of materials. Ive spoken about the plastic cape before but I love it. I love the way plastic holds shape. I love the contrasting material in the second cape.

I mostly like this collection for the variations in material, texture and details. I also love the shapes of the bag, and throughout the collection the bag varies as much as the clothes do.

Paper Beads

Making paper beads is my favourite pass time. They are really simple to do and you can make them in so many different colours. I always use old magazine pages from glossy fashion mags, the paper quality is really good so the beads are easy to roll and come out well. Coloured magazine paper really gives off a different effect too. I love working with really bright pages. When I make a whole page worth of beads I always match the similar looking patterns and colours together to create bracelets with. I usually varnish my beads when they're done. I used a matt varnish and if I want the beads to be glossy I use clear nail polish.

Here are some I made with black and white paper. I love the different tones and variations in colour each bead has.

I love making my own jewellery so I use the paper beads to use in the bracelets. Here the paper beads are varnished and I have used square beads like spacers.

Plastic, Acetate and PVC

I have a huge love for plastic, especially when its put into clothing! After going through all most all New York and London fashion week spring summer collections I have found some of my plastic favourites!

Chado Ralph Rucci RTW SS13
I love how Chado Ralph Rucci adds very subtle amounts of coloured plastic. It gives a nice pop of colour and gives a unique touch to a classic silhouette. I also really like the matching plastic cuffs!

Dans La Vie RTW SS13
I like how Dans La Vie chose to make this blazer out of contrasting materials. Youre able to compare the different ways these materials hold their shape.

Timur Kim RTW SS13
Plascit and PVC is usually used for raincoats and usually something so conventional wouldn't stand out to me but I really like the toggle fastens.

Milly by Michelle Smith RTW SS13
In my first year of uni, which happens to just be last year, I designed this plastic poncho and I got so excited when I saw this poncho by Milly by Michelle Smith. I love the silhouette and contrasting zip!

Lacoste RTW SS13
I love this due to the way it drapes and the ribbed collar! It gives it a sporty feel.

Charlotte Ronson RTW SS13

Love plastic jacket! I love the elasticated cuffs and bottom of the jacket.

Burberry Prorsum RTW SS13
This Burberry 3/4 cape is AMAZING! I love it and I love the fasten which is a buckle fastening. I think the colour orange gives in an extra plus for me!

Fashion East - Maarten van der Horst RTW SS13
I loved these outfits. I was hoping that the bags were real carrier bags fused together. Ive read a few things about this collection, some people say its printed, some say its real carrier bags.

Finally, I have Burberry Prorsum again! I love these bags. They had loads of different types in the collections, a varied amount of materials and colours, but of course I loved the plastic ones! I love the shape and I even like how they put purses inside.

Embellished Polka dots

I have a huge love for Polka dot and embellishments. You cant imagine how excited I was when I saw two outfits that are polka dots made from embellishments.

Both of these outfits are very similar yet very different. The first outfit designed by Diane von Furstenberg has been embellished with what looks like diamontes.  The second outfit which I find far more interesting is designed by Sachin + Babi, I think they used a process called Shisha embroidery, which involves a small circle shaped mirror to be stitched on. One of my favourite processes.

Alice Temperley

Pictures I took at the Alice Temperley fashion show at John Lewis on FNO

I love the camel coat cape in this picture

The metal frame tree in the John Lewis store looks really cool. It came pretty far up the ceiling but it looked really cool.

I love these shoes. They look exactly like these slip ones I have, except these are heeled and gold outline. I love simple shoes that have a hint of something unique to them.

I really liked this scarf. I wanted to get it but unfortunately I'm a broke student so I couldn't get it.

Helmut Lang

Love these Helmut Lang Jackets. I love the shape and the side zip.

Nicole Miller

I loved the Nicole Miller collection. Here are a few outfits I really liked. They're so different to each other. I loved some of the prints and styles. I also really like the blazers and jackets.

Nicole Miller Ready-to-wear SS13

PVC Jacket

I love this Charlotte Ronson PVC jacket. There is also a black one which I didn't like so much because it wasn't as transparent!

I love the cuff, usually you see plastic jackets that are very loose around the wrist. I guess that's normally with raincoats.

Victoria Secret Mannequins

Victoria Secret Mannequins

The mannequins in Victoria secret were really interesting. I loved this ribbon covered one. The black and white striped one also caught my eye.

Victoria Secret

Victoria Secret

On my night out I went to the new Victoria Secret shop on new bond street. I loved the fashion show outfits they had outside. We've all seen the fashion show and seeing the outfits up close was nice. There is a lot of detail that you don't notice from far.

Vogue’s Fashion Night out 2012

Vogue’s Fashion Night out 2012

I started my night out by going to the Conde Nast Worldwide news store near oxford circus. They were giving away a Vogue goodie bag to the first 50 people that bought the t-shirt designed by Jonathan Saunders. Once I arrived to the shop, there was a que. Being short I couldn't see that far in front of me but it did look like it was under 50 people, I was so excited, I did think I was going to get the goodie bag. Unfortunately I didn’t get one; however they were giving away a few free tickets to the fashion weekend to some of the people who missed out on the bag. I was lucky enough to get one. While in the que, they were giving away these popcorn bags. A lot of companies are really trying to promote their companies, no better way than though fashion!

I’m still yet to try the popcorn! The shop itself was very small, much smaller than I expected. The magazines were displayed well. I wanted the blue top, they only had the pink one. Overall not a great start to my night. In the shop they had cupcakes and champagne. That was a plus.

My night took a much better turn when I ended up at John Lewis, they were having the Alice Temerley fashion show. I had just missed one when I got there, but I had time to take a quick look around then get to watch the show. I was with my sister and we both got front row seats. It wasn’t a very conventional fashion show but the models stayed out longer and it was a great advantage getting to look at those clothes for longer. Slightly awkward when the models are sitting right in front of you but it was great for some pictures. In the introduction, they announced that this was her first shoe collection. The shoes were a classic shape and I think would appeal to many people. My favourite pieces in the collection had to be his camel coloured coat cape and a Red and black scarf.

After a few stops at different shops my night ended in Mulberry, it was a nightmare to get in but inside they had loads of different things going on. Free drinks, sponsored by Chase vodka, which happens to be one of my favourite types of vodka! They were giving away products with a prize draw. Had a nail section and even a customised flip book!

Conde Nast Worlwide news items!

FNO was a good night. The Alice Temperley show was the best part!
