2 Year Anniversary

Last Friday it was my 2 year anniversary with my Boyfriend. We went out at Covent Garden, London. I love it there around this time of year. All the Christmas decorations are up and its got such a Christmassy aura everywhere.

We also went here for our 1 year anniversary. It looks exactly the same, nothing had changed.

Here are a few pictures I took of Covent Garden

The reindeer had a knit scarf and hat. It looked really good. In the main square there are also huge baubles. I didn't take any pictures of them this year but here are two I took last year. They even had a few disco ball baubles.

I wore a Quiz dress that I got from Debenhams over the summer. It was on sale, got it for just under £20 I think. I am wearing a jersey blazer from Miss Selfridge - £30 and I was wearing peachy/nude pumps from Matalan - £12 and I also wore a polka dot coat - Miss Selfridge - sale £20! Such a bargain!

I also painted my nails nude. Nails Inc nail polish. I love the colour however nails inc nail polish takes forever to dry, I was in a rush and did mess up a few nails. As you can see from my pinky finger - a little mark. I wont be buying nails inc!

My boyfriend plans our anniversaries. He is so wonderful and always chooses something I love. He kept what we did a secret until I saw him that evening. We went to a restaurant which is a part of the hotel, One Aldwych. The restaurant was Axis. The restaurant it self looked really nice, really big and such high ceilings.

My boyfriend got us a deal called Martini movies, its in association with Grey Goose. It is a Movie and then Dinner. They have their own private cinema room, fits up to 30 people.

We got popcorn and a drink when watching the movie. I got sweet popcorn and my boyfriend got salty. They taste great together. We watched 21 jump street, which is a good movie to see before dinner, you didn't have to concentrate too much and it was just a laugh. The drink I got was called, Le Fizz it has grey goose vodka in it and came with a Grey Goose shoot glass and a mixer, which had the Goose at the top. The drink was amazing and it did give me a good buzz for the start of the movie.

The dinner was okay. After such a good start the dinner didn't seem as good. Me and my boyfriend both didn't like our starters, I think that was because the meat was raw and we're both not huge fans of rare meat. (I do like my beef well done!) Mains were considerably better, I had the Cod and my boyfriend had the Duck. I really enjoyed it and the dessert was so good! I couldn't finish it. I had the Chocolate tart and my boyfriend had the almond cake, he is so much more healthier then I am. Other then starters the meal was very nice!

With Martini Movies they have a set menu with it. I think the food they have at Axis is really nice, It's a shame we were limited to a set menu!

They had special menus for us, which included pictures from the movie. Quite inventive and cool I think!

I took my menu home so here a few pics of it!

My boyfriend treated me to such a great evening and it was such a good surprise. It was a fantastic anniversary idea.

Shop displays

I have more shop displays! I have much more interesting and exciting stuff to post about but I'm so busy! I have so much university work going on right now.

I was going though my pictures of this year so far and I went shopping in Feb, I was obsessed with shop displays back then too. I have found a few pictures of some cool displays.

I cant remember exactly where everything is but I do think its all in the same shop, I believe it is Selfridge.

My first set of pictures are of shoes! They were in the shoe section and right next to the Christian Louboutin section too! I loves these huge glass tile shoes. They were so big and as big as they were they didnt over power the room. I did try to get a close up and obviously got a picture of my reflection.

I am wearing a Miss Selfridge parka - on sale £40 RRP £80 and my nails polish is a cherry orange colour. I love it. My Grandma got it for me! I think that is what started my love for burnt orange.

My next bunch of photos are form the Vivian Westwood installation. It was in the shop, really tucked away but I still saw it! I love newspaper and newspaper fashion. I make jewellery and accessories out of news paper so I was fascinated with this installation. News paper everywhere!

The picture above I took by almost walking in, I did really stretch over. I wanted a good picture of the news paper Mohawk!

I can not remember where I took my last set of photos but it is of this ballet outfit that was hanging in a designer section. I loved the detail and embroidery. I even got a good few close up shops.

I love all the detail and embellishment to this ballet outfit!

I still have the same camera but these pictures look so much better then recent ones my camera has taken. I think it may be time for a new camera!

Selfridges Shop Display

I love all weird yet wonderful shop displays. All these picture are taken in Selfridges. I cant remember the name of the brand of the picture above and below. It was opposite the escalators and once I saw it I had to take a picture.

I'm glad I'm short because I would find it so creepy to be eye level with those mannequin's eyes starring at me. They slightly remind me of owl eyes!

The two pictures above are from the Alexander McQueen section. I love the tree structure and the baubles.

I love the Christmasy feel everything has. The picture below is of these mannequins holding presents. This is probably what I'm going to look like soon when I go rushing around from Christmas presents!

10 pairs of shoes

I am currently procrastinating and I have started looking at shoes! Lots and lots of shoes!

While my brain has decided it does not want to focus to do work I have been online shopping. Unfortunately due to being a skint student I have put a list of 10 pairs of shoes I would currently love to have.

1) Deena & Ozzy Ernest Grey Stud Flats - £85 - Urban outfitters

I am a huge fan of embellishments. On anything and anywhere therefore I love studs.

I am a very functional dresser. I like these Deena and Ozzy shoes because the sole looks so thick, they look like they can go through some wear and tear and last! Also I like the colour grey and the texture of the material looks really soft.

2) Kimchi Blue Stella Nude Stud Flatforms - £48 - Urban Outfitters

Studs again, surprise surprise! These look so comfortable. The thick sole and ankle high! You have to love anything that covers your whole foot and the bottom of your trousers! It allows you to wear any socks you want! In autumn and winter I wear any socks I want, I love not having to pick really nice dressy socks because you can see them. Any socks, they don't even have to match. Your feet are covered and even more your feet are warm!

3) Underground Shoes Teal Velvet Creepers - £89 - Urban outfitters

I am a huge fan of creepers! I love large and deep soles (not only because they give you hight). They just look so comfortable.

I am a huge sucker for velvet! Put velvet on anything, I want it! I also love the colour teal. They have these shoes in a variety of colours

4) DV8 Figgins Lace Up Flatform Boots - £130 - ASOS

Love the colour, sole and how functional they are!

5) Caterpillar Ponty Lace Up Honey Ankle Boots - £95 - ASOS

These remind me of baby Timberland's I used to have when I was younger. However these look far more feminine!

6) ALDO Sen Tan Wedge Trainers - £75 - ASOS

Image 1 of ALDO Sen Tan Wedge Trainers
I am not a huge fan of ALDO, mostly because I usually can not find anything I like in there. I really like these, they are very different to other shoes I see in the store.

I love the colour, I am a huge fan for nude and brown tones, mainly because I think it goes well with my skin tone.

7) Converse All Star Suede Contrast Lace High Top Trainers - £57 - ASOS

I have recently just bought my second pair of converse. I wish I saw these when I was shopping. I love the nude colour!

8) Burberry Eveline Wedge shoe boots - £525 - Selfridge

You see this style of wedge everywhere. Burberry really has done it the best. I like the textured sole and the detail to the shoes.

9) Mulberry Studded wedge ankle boots - £700 - Selfridge

Mulberry have also got great pairs of wedges. They have this studded in style in lots of other colours and materials. The brands great so they should last a long time, could be worth the money.

Very similar to Burberry!

    10) Carvela Georgette faux-suede shoe boots - £140 - Selfridge

I love the style of these! I had to have a pair of stilettos in my 10 pairs of shoes! I love the style and embellishments but faux-suede for £140 - not worth it!

I love designer shoes. They look great and some are really worth the money!

    Skin care products

One of the skin lotions I love and will never go without, is Simple - Purifying cleansing lotion. I have been using this for years and it just works really well. It is very creamy so it does not dry out my skin, gets rid of those little bits of make-up left on your skin. Overall really great!

Simple I get from Superdrug/Boots It's about £3. Superdrug usually have an offer on most of their products, a tiny bit cheaper there!

Another brand I love is Estee Lauder. Their foaming cleanser I love! It really cleans your face but what is even better is their Balancing lotion. This stuff really is great and usually I hate it when the sales person tells you, you should get both they work great together. I feel like they just want you to buy more of their products but these two really work great together and on their own. They are a bit pricey, around or just over £20. I try and get them when they're on offer, I think Debenhams currently have an offer of them.

The Estee Lauder skin care products I have are for normal skin, the blue bottles. They also have pink ones which are for Dry skin. I have tried the Dry skin foaming cleanser, I actually prefer this one. However I haven't tired the Dry skin balancing lotion.

My last products are from Tesco, they are My Skin. I think they're Tescos own brand. One is a daily face wash and one is a moisturiser. I love the smells of these. The face wash is really good and the products work well, they do the job. The products are about £2 - £3. They usually have offers on them too, which are like buy 2 get 3rd free.

    Offers are great!

I use the simple cleansing lotion daily and the Estee lauder skin care a couple time a week, they are really strong so I don't want to use them every day. I use the My Skin daily facial wash the days I don't use the Estee lauder products and I use the My Skin moisturiser when I need to.

Above is picture of all my products and I styled the picture with some of my paper bead bracelets.

    Puppy measuring tape!

I am currently swamped with work. I want to write a very extensive post about clothes, unfortunately I don't have the time so I thought I would post this super awesome picture I took of my measuring tape when I was playing with it, I noticed it looked like a puppy!

    Enjoy this very unusual picture!

    My Jewellery!

I love making jewellery in my free time. I really enjoy just sitting down in front of the t.v and making bracelets. Bracelets have to be the one item of jewellery that I really love, they're not too fussy. I do prefer them over necklaces and earrings! I have blogged previously about how I like to make paper beads, then turn those into bracelets, but I just wanted to show the bracelets I've made with bought beads too.

The pictures above are of paper bead bracelets. They are all varnished with matt varnish. The smaller beads take much longer to make but look really good!

The green bracelet is made using all class beads and the purple bracelet is made using large glass beads and large glass pearl effect beads, then smaller plastic pearl effect beads.

These are plastic beads. I made a lot and put them all on and noticed this diagonal pattern, I just had to take a picture!

The top four bracelets are clear and blue, the second two are blue and green. The next four are light blue and blue breads, finally the last five are red and clear. I love contrasting colours. The plastic bracelets above are all made with purple coloured elastic. I think it's such a nice pop of colour when you're stretching the bracelet a little to put it on.

I have many many more I have made, various types, beads and material. I always use silver plated fastening and findings. I also make a lot of elasticated bracelets. I made of of these bracelets during the summer, June - August. Unfortunately since I've started university again I haven't found the time to make more. These pictures were all taken around August/September time.

    V&A - Hollywood Costumes

This Wednesday I went to the V&A - I went with uni for the Hollywood costumes exhibition, my lecturer for  the module I went for got the uni to pay for our entry, so that was a huge bonus!

Hollywood costumes was so good. They had so many outfits than I expected. The exhibition took over an hour to go though. The first costume I saw was the Green dress Scarlett O'hara wore in Gone with the Wind, played by Vivian Leigh. This film is one of my favourites. I was watching parts of the film the day before I went to the exhibition. I was so excited when I saw it. I was just starring art it. I wish I could have seen the back of the dress better. They even had the hat and everything. The dress looked so nice in person.

It was really great to see all the costumes close up in person. Its amazing how much detail they put into all these dresses, especially when they're only on screen for a few minutes some times.

They had another dress Scarlett O'hara wore. The bright red dress. The colour had looked like it faded slightly, but you could see all the embellishments. I think the description said the embellishments were glass and metal. I assume the metal is encasing the glass.

They had so many outfits, a lot of mens costumes, which I didn't expect. They had Rocky Balboa's boxing outfit from Rocky 5 and Indiana Jones, a lot more that I cant remember.

I really liked how they had descriptions from the costume designers about the outfit and inspirations or ideas. I remember they had the costume Natalie Portman wore as Alice in the film Closer, when she had the red short hair and wore that long denim coat. The designer wrote that she saw this homeless girl and copied the outfit. Its nice to know where their inspiration came from.

I also liked how creative they were with some of the costumes display. Superman's outfit was hanging from the ceiling like it was flying, Spider-mans outfit was crawling on the wall, Catwoman's outfit was high up on this ledge. Best outfit display had to be Uma Thurman's costume in Kill Bill, it was in the position as a flying kick!

They also had Jack and Rose's costumes from Titanic. Their outfits were really far away and they weren't in a good position to see. Maybe its because their outfits aren't as popular as some of the others.

The Addams family outfits were their too! They had Wednesday, Pugsley, and the baby's outfits. It was nice seeing them and noticing how small they were. I was really surprised to all the detail on Morticia's costumes. You don't see all that detail in the films, so it was nice seeing it in person and appreciating it.

I think the outfit I was most looking forward to was Dorothy's, played by Judy Garland in Wizard of Oz. I was a bit upset when I read the description and found out it was all a reconstruction however they did have the real slippers she wore! For being over 80 years old, the colour had faded and they weren't as sparkly but it was nice seeing the shoes she wore. I am a huge fan on Judy Garland, for her being very short I expected the shoes to be quite small but they weren't. They had reconstructed shoes made from the original shoe pattern, they were really bright and sparkly, you could see them from the other side of the room!

Another thing I noticed was the size of the actress and actors. You can never really tell how tall or skinny they are until you see them or the clothes they wear. I was surprised to see how skinny so many of the actresses were.

Overall I really liked the exhibition. I recommend it to anyone! It was really great seeing all the detail to all the costumes.
