Alexander McQueen Mens AW13-14

This collection reminds me of the 1920's; the slick hair waved back and all the fitted tailored suits. I love the modern twist on a classic silhouette. The picture above shows four outfits from the collection, all with pin stripes. However throughout the collection is patchwork detail. In the second outfit it is very subtle but the blazer and trousers are made using the process of patchwork, hard to notice because the material has been cut so well, the pin stripe is all in the same direction. The fourth outfit it far more obvious, however they haven't made the pin stripe in a random order; it is contrasting but works so well.

The patchwork process runs throughout the collection. These suits have a variety of fabrics. The first outfit has similar colours, the second and third outfit is more contrasting.

When I think of a 1920's suit, I always imagine them wearing a velvet blazer. I love how in the first, second and third outfit from the picture above contain velvet. The first outfit uses a variety of velvet, from red to maroon. The second and third outfit use it slightly, around the collar, I like how they have used it here, it hold the structure of the collar and borders the blazers well. They also contain patches of quilted material  here they have added another texture to the blazers. The fourth and final outfit from the collection contains patchwork with gold print.

The only splash of colour throughout this collection is red!

You have to admire the detail and quality in these blazers. The patchwork isn't random. It has been well throughout and planned. Imagine having to make the pattern for these blazers!

Jason Wu Pre AW13-14

Once again leather inspired looks. I don't mean to keep choosing designers that are using a lot of leather but I just see it everywhere! I am currently into leather and I expect to see so much more. I find it hard to like an all leather outfit, it can be a bit too much but Jason Wu really does leather dresses justice. His clothing with leather details are great. I love the third outfit above, rarely do you see pockets on the outside of trousers but using a contrasting material like leather you can't go wrong. The first two outfits have garments with leather, styled with a stripe print. The second outfit has a knit top in the stripe pattern but I think the first outfit has the stripe pattern also in leather.

I love the volume and shape you get with heavy weight material like the first and second outfit above. Emerald green is such a great colour for the winter season. The third outfit is a green coat with fur, still using leather detail. The collar and zip stand are both in leather and give the coat really great detail. So much is going on with this coat but it looks great.

I am so picky when it comes to leather dresses. Unfortunately some lower brands fake leather (pleather/leatherette) is very cheap so you really need to scrutinise when buying from a high street retailer. I am very blunt when shopping (its a bad habit) if something is awful I will say, however I don't say anything rude when it is not my taste. I only say bad things when clothing is badly made. My boyfriend said something to me that made me feel a bit more "positive" towards very fake cheap leather. I was shocked by this retailer's fake leather jacket and I did say out loud how cheap it looked, my boyfriend replied with "Its not cheap leather, just really good plastic!". I have a huge love for plastic and plastic clothing. I wish I had money to spend on a very expensive, great looking leather dress - but I don't so I choose very carefully! (little ramble over).

Jason Wu has made some great leather dresses - shape and cut is on point, plus the dresses are the perfect length you cant go wrong with just above the knee. The third and fourth outfit in the picture above are party styles, leather and sequins is a great mix as well as leather and light weight material. Like the leather halter top with the soft bow. The leather on the fourth dress really structure the shape.

Constantly talking about leather and my final outfit is of the mesh sequin dress. It slightly remind me of a mermaid. The sequins perfectly represent scales. It's covered in the right places and showing the right parts too, complimenting the models figure.

I am trying to do a Pre collection post until fashion week, hopefully I stick with it. I may do a leather post about where you can get faux leather clothing at good prices.

Burberry Prorsum Pre-AW13-14

I love going through all the pre show pictures before the autumn winter fashion shows. It's such a good idea, you get a taster of what the collection may have in it. Burberry always have something I love about their collection. For SS13 it was the capes, PVC/plastic garments and bags!

I love the statement buttons in the pre collection, also some of the print; stripes and giraffe!

These huge snap and pop fastens are such a statement  As well as being functional, by having them such an extremely large size they are a design feature. The contrasting colour of the black fastens work really well with the camel coloured coat.

I would love to buy a coat that had these on them!

The stripe pattern is different to a general stripe. On the leather jacket there is a diagonal pattern through the jacket, almost like it is quilted. The knit turtle neck jumper has stripes created by the colour but it has this zigzag border to it.  The skirt on the left is embellished with sequins and crystals. It's full of texture and very sparkly. The leather skirt on the right has eyelets throughout it. High waisted skirts look really good on and they go with almost anything!

Similar to the SS13 collection with cropped capes, the image to the left has a cropped leather jacket. I am starting to expect leather jackets and cropped leather jackets in the AW13-14 collection.

Burberry Prorsum always do such amazing coats. I love the small peplum and large pockets and button stand. The coat on the right has leather detail and sleeves.

I am a huge fan of Giraffe print, I definitely think there should be more of it.

I love the accessories styling these outfits. Animal print clutches and belts. I also like how they have the same shoes throughout. I expect to see leather in their collection.
